Mom of six I suspect my kids use the tetherball to work off excess energy and sometimes frustrations or anger. I've seen my teenaged son walk away from a tense situation and commence to wallop that ball. Great for working off some tension--not so easy on the ball. We'd gone through several balls in short order before this one. The ones I found in local stores had a little loop of rubber on the top of the ball that you tied the cord through. Those ripped apart at the first good hit, and the ball was useless. This one is no more expensive and has held up quite well. Even our dog plays with it! And she's a brute!
